4iiii

If you are looking for a power meter that is accurate, reliable, and offers excellent value for money, then it is hard to look past an offering from 4iiii. It is not an exaggeration to say that the company competes with brands offering products twice the price.

Now based in the Canadian Rockies, the company’s founders have an established history in cycling tech. In 1999 they created ANT+, the communication protocol which is now ubiquitous in wireless fitness devices. In 2010, after selling their pioneering technology, they founded 4iiii with a mission to create affordable, industry-leading sports technology for the masses. Their first power meter was released in 2015, and they have since become an industry leader in the field.

Made For Pros And Enthusiasts Alike

If power meters have democratized training, then 4iiii have been a key player in doing the same for power meters as a product category. Since the introduction of the Precision in 2015, they have become a staple across the world of pro cycling. It’s a device equally at home pacing WorldTour teams up alpine climbs, as pro MTB cyclists over the roughest terrain.

Where the Canadian company sets itself apart is the price point they hit. As one of the lowest-priced products on the market, it’s not an exaggeration to say that, this is pro-level technology in reach of the masses. With options on Shimano cranks from 105 to Dura-Ace on the road, and XT and XTR off-road, cyclists of varying budgets are catered for.

Big Things In A Small Package

Importantly, affordability doesn’t come at the expense of quality in this range. Whether it’s fitted to Shimano’s 105 groupset or its Dura-Ace range, the product on offer is equally lightweight, well priced, and reliable.

Adding only 9 grams for a left-sided power meter and 22 grams for the dual-sided, it’s one of the lightest power meters on the market. With a claimed accuracy of +/- 1% — verified in third party testing by The University of Boulder — it’s also one of the most accurate.

Abuse Of Power

Tucked onto the inner side of a crankset, the device is located away from the regular knocks and bumps of cycling. They all have an IPX7 waterproof rating, meaning you can rest assured your device will survive even the harshest of winter rides. Active temperature compensation is used to continually adjust to the conditions of the day, so you won’t need to stop and calibrate as the weather changes.

Plus, should your device fail, all are covered by a three-year warranty.

Give me the power!

So, you want the power, but where do you start? Firstly, take a look at the range we stock ProBikeKit (Precision 2 and Precision 3). 4iiii power meters arrive pre-installed on a brand-new crank. Simply install the crank(set) following the manufacturer’s instruction. No special tools required.

Once you’ve installed it on your bike, you’ll need to download the app (iOS or Android) and sync your device. All the power meters are ANT+ and Bluetooth enabled so that they can be paired with your choice of bike computer or laptop.

From there, you’re good to go!
